Hey everyone, just wanted to bring up something that's been bothering me about how Charles McClinton's case unfolded. I've been thinking about how difficult it must be for the families and friends of victims like Charles, who are left in limbo because of witness silence. I totally understand why people might be scared to come forward, especially in a neighborhood like West Garfield Park where retaliation is a real threat. But it’s just so frustrating to think about how this wall of silence doesn’t just deny justice to Charles and his loved ones—it keeps the whole community in this cycle of fear and violence. Does anyone else feel like this could change if there were more robust efforts or community programs aimed at protecting witnesses and encouraging them to speak up? I feel like breaking this cycle could really help these communities start to heal. My thoughts and prayers are with Charles' family. Hopefully, one day they'll find the answers they're looking for.
