Has anyone looked into the weather conditions on the day Walter went missing? I know Alaska can be pretty unpredictable, especially in October. If there was a sudden storm or heavy winds, it might explain why his skiff disappeared. I’m curious if any local fishermen from that area could chime in about what it was like around that time. It seems like the debris washing up could be a clue, but understanding the conditions might give us more insight into what could have possibly happened out there.
Hey everyone, I’ve been looking into Walter’s disappearance, and something caught my eye when reviewing the timeline. It's the combination of weather conditions on 10/01/1998 and the peculiar area between Cape Blossom and Riley Wreck where debris was found. Does anyone have info on what the weather was like that day and how it could've impacted navigation? I read somewhere that even small weather changes could significantly affect skiffs in that region. Also, does anyone local remember any unusual weather events around that time? It might be critical in piecing together what happened to Walter. Any thoughts appreciated!
Did anyone look into the weather conditions around the time Walter disappeared? I'm curious if rough seas could have played a bigger role than previously considered. I know Alaska waters can be pretty unpredictable, and if a storm hit, it might explain some of the debris we found. Even experienced folks can run into trouble if the weather turns suddenly. Maybe we should try to pinpoint if there were any reported changes in the weather on 10/01/1998 or around that time. It might give us new insights or help refocus where we look next.
