I was thinking a lot about the bravery shown by the officers involved in the tragic standoff on Lamont Street. It's gut-wrenching to know that they were facing such a volatile and dangerous situation, especially when it involves potential loss of innocent lives. My heart goes out to the family of Patricia Wilson—not only did they lose beloved family members, but Patricia's husband, a Detroit Public Schools Community District officer, was injured too. It must be incredibly tough for him to process everything that happened. I can't even begin to imagine the strength and courage required to handle such an ordeal in that line of work. This incident really underscores the dire need for better crisis intervention, especially involving domestic situations with potential for violence. Thinking of everyone affected, including those first responders who put their lives on the line. Stay strong, everyone.
