I’ve been following Clint Eatman's case, and I just can’t stop thinking about how deeply entrenched the issues are in areas like Roseland. It’s devastating to see such a young life lost, especially in a neighborhood that’s been grappling with violence for so long. My heart goes out to Clint's family and friends who have to endure this terrible pain. It does make me wonder, though, about the broader strategies for dealing with the socio-economic issues that seem to be fueling this cycle of violence. We often hear about increased policing or community initiatives, but I’m curious about whether there are any specific policies people know of from back in 2009 that were actually making a difference in similar neighborhoods? Or maybe there are lessons from other cities that faced similar challenges? It just seems crucial to address these root causes if there’s ever going to be real change.
