I just learned another detail that really struck me about Derek's case. It turns out that he was on his way to pick up a friend when the shooting happened. It makes me think about how random and sudden life can change. I can't help but feel for his family and friends, who must be going through unimaginable pain right now. Losing someone, especially so young and with so much potential, must be incredibly difficult. It's important for us as a community to come together and support one another during times like this. I hope the legal process is thorough and just, so that Derek's family can find some form of peace amid this tragedy. Sending strength and love to all those affected by this.
