I’ve been following Courtney’s case, and I just can’t shake the feeling that the system utterly failed her. It’s so disheartening to see how domestic violence cases often don't get the attention they desperately require. Courtney did everything she could to protect herself and little Carsyn, yet the man who threatened their safety was released so easily. Why isn’t there more accountability for those making these decisions?
The lack of media attention too, why is this still happening in 2020? Courtney’s story should have been told—not just as a cautionary tale, but to hopefully prevent the same thing from happening to others. I hope the community and SafeHouse Center can continue urging those who have the power to enact real change. It’s too late for Courtney, but maybe Carsyn will grow up in a world where her mom’s tragedy led to actual reforms. My heart goes out to all of her family, especially her sister Danyale. They’re incredibly strong for stepping up for Carsyn like that.
I've been following Courtney's case and can't stop thinking about the struggles faced by her family, especially Danyale Neely, who has taken on the enormous responsibility of raising little Carsyn after the tragic events. It must be incredibly challenging for Danyale to navigate her grief while providing Carsyn with a loving environment. The community's support through the GoFundMe campaign is heartening, but it also underscores how much work still needs to be done to protect people like Courtney.
It's so frustrating to see these patterns repeat, where help is sought and systems fail to provide sufficient protection. I hope that this case encourages more conversations about domestic violence's complex dynamics, especially regarding marginalized communities. My thoughts are with Courtney's family, and I'm grateful to everyone in the community doing their part to support them and advocate for much-needed change.
