I've been thinking a lot about the people attending that birthday party who were caught up in the chaos. It’s unbelievably tragic that a celebration could turn into something so horrific. I can't imagine the trauma for them, witnessing a shooting at what should have been a joyful event. The ripple effects of this tragedy reach far and wide, impacting not just Toyake and Andre’s families, but all of those unwittingly thrust into this traumatic event. While justice was served in the conviction of Kirtley, the scars left behind can’t be so easily mended. It makes me think about how these instances of violence leave such a lasting impact on communities, and how important it is for us to support one another in the wake of such tragedies. Keeping everyone affected in my thoughts as they continue to heal. ?
