Did anyone else find Smith's behavior in the courtroom disturbing? During his sentencing, when the family talked about what Ashley meant to them, he didn't seem to show any remorse or emotion. For someone who took a plea deal, I was expecting at least some acknowledgment of the pain he caused. I can't imagine what Ashley's family felt seeing that. It just makes this whole ordeal even harder to grasp. My heart goes out to her kids and loved ones. They didn’t deserve any of this. The cycle of violence has such a devastating impact on families and communities; it’s just so important we start having real conversations about intervention and support before things get this far. Did anyone else notice his reaction or lack thereof, or was it just me?

It's so saddening to think about the ripple effects of Ashley "Charlie" Ridge’s loss on those little ones she left behind. Four children who now have to grow up without their mom, that’s just unimaginable. From what I've read, she really lit up the lives of her family and community with her kindness and positivity. I can’t help but wonder about the mental state of Phillip Smith that day. It seems so out of control, especially considering the consequences his actions would have on his family too. Was there any way this could have been prevented? You can't help but think about the warning signs that might have been overlooked in family tensions like these. My heart goes out to Ashley’s family and friends as they navigate through this immense loss. I hope they find strength in each other and in the memories of better times with Charlie. Be kind to one another, everyone. Life is too precious.

I can't stop thinking about how our justice system handles plea agreements in cases as serious as Ashley's. It's gut-wrenching to know that Phillip Smith took a plea deal, which significantly reduced his charges. On one hand, I understand the need to avoid lengthy trials and secure a conviction, but does this truly serve justice for Ashley and her family? She had her whole life ahead of her and four children who now have to grow up without their mom. It's beyond tragic. I imagine it's incredibly painful for her family to watch this unfold, knowing Smith might serve only a fraction of the maximum sentence. It makes me wonder about the broader implications of plea bargains in homicide cases and whether they sometimes compromise true justice for the victims and their loved ones. I hope Ashley's family finds peace and continues to receive support from the community during this tough time. Her kids deserve every ounce of love and strength we can offer them. What's everyone's take on the plea deal aspect? Do you think it was fair in this situation?
