Hi all, I've been reflecting on the impact that Michael Wilson's murder has had on the Battle Creek community, especially as someone who frequently visited Warren Street. It’s just so haunting to think that such a vibrant life was taken in such a senseless manner. I walked by the vigil recently, and it was incredibly moving to see how many people gathered to honor him. You could just feel the love and pain in the air. It's so concerning to me how gun violence continues to disrupt and destroy lives. I can't stop wondering about the kind of support systems that neighborhoods like ours need to prevent these tragic cycles of crime and retaliation from continuing. Hopefully, the ongoing discussions lead to real change. My heart goes out to his family and friends; I hope they find some peace and justice soon. Please, take care of each other out there. Stay safe everyone.
