Has anyone else been thinking about the role of the Fairley brothers' past arrests in this case? It's so tragic how sometimes the very people officers try to hold accountable end up becoming their dangers. From what I've read, Homer Lafayette Everett had already tangled with the Fairleys due to those liquor violations. I can't even imagine the tension of driving past their house that day, already knowing their history. It makes me think about the emotional toll this could have taken on him, besides the obvious physical danger. My heart goes out to Everett’s family – having to cope with such a brutal end all because he was committed to upholding the law. Such a harrowing time in history, and a stark reminder of the very real threats officers faced just doing their jobs.
