I’ve been reading up on the tragic loss of Agent Robert Mansfield Buck, and it’s really struck a chord with me, especially as he just seemed like an honorable man doing his job. One thing that stands out is the testimony given by Zeno Hoda. It’s hard to wrap my head around how someone could claim not to recognize federal agents during an operation. I understand the chaos of the moment and the fear everyone must have felt, but it’s devastating to think that this was a key factor in the acquittal. I've seen how hard these agents worked during Prohibition, often putting their lives at risk, all for enforcing the law. My heart goes out to Agent Buck’s family, particularly his wife Josie and son Robert Jr. They had to grapple not only with losing a loved one but also seeing the person responsible walk free. It just highlights the unpredictable and dangerous reality these agents faced.
