I’ve been thinking a lot about the role that Cecil Price played in the tragic events of June 21, 1964. It’s chilling to realize that someone tasked with enforcing the law could be so deeply involved in such a heinous crime. It makes you wonder how many others in positions of authority were silently complicit or actively participating in similar acts during that era. I can only imagine the frustration and fear felt by African Americans trying to register to vote, knowing that those responsible for their protection might actually be threats. My heart goes out to the families of James Chaney, Andrew Goodman, and Michael Schwerner. Their courage in the face of such adversity is both humbling and inspiring. I hope that continued discussions about this case and others like it will bring about much-needed change and accountability.

Hey everyone, I've been thinking a lot about James Chaney and his bravery in the face of such terrible risks. It's chilling to think that he stepped into a world of unimaginable fear, simply to fight for basic human rights. He was so young, just 21, yet he stood firm for what he believed in. What really gets me is how the initial investigation was treated as a missing persons case. I can't help but wonder if things would've been different if the urgency had matched the severity of the situation from the get-go. The fact that it took so long to find them must have been torture for their families. And then for it all to come down to those measly sentences in 1967... it's so frustrating. I’m thankful that there was a push for justice in 2005, but it's a stark reminder of how slow the wheels can sometimes turn. Chaney's courage makes me wonder about all the unsung heroes from that era. Let's keep discussing these stories and remember those who sacrificed so much for the rights many of us enjoy today. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family and all who continue to fight for justice. Stay safe, everyone.
