Hey everyone, I’ve been closely following the tragic case of Fay Ann Noel, and one thing that’s really been on my mind is the challenge her family must have faced in dealing with Kenneth’s mental health issues. It’s just incredibly sad to think that this tragedy might have been avoided if he’d been getting the help he needed. Mental health care is such an under-discussed aspect in these situations, especially when it comes to balancing care with personal and family responsibilities. I can’t help but feel for both sides here. Fay, with her decades of service, seemed like a dedicated and strong individual, respected by colleagues and loved ones. On the other hand, Kenneth’s struggle with schizophrenia that led to this is just another reminder of how real and severe these conditions can be, and the help systems that sometimes fall short. The family lost two members that night, in a way. Fay lost her life, and Kenneth’s future was changed forever. How many of these tragedies could be prevented if there were more accessible resources and better systems in place for people struggling with such conditions? What does everyone else think? Thoughts are with the family during this unimaginably tough time.
