It's been a few years since Quarnitra Murray's tragic death, but the ripples of that day still affect the community here in Philadelphia, Mississippi. I've been thinking a lot about how her case brought the spotlight onto issues of gun violence in our town. It seems like every time we turn on the news, there's another report of a senseless act that could have been prevented. The trial really opened my eyes to the legal hurdles families face when seeking justice, and it reminded me how crucial it is for communities to support one another during such difficult times. Quarnitra's family has shown an incredible amount of resilience and strength. I can only hope that we continue working together to create a safer environment for all our families, so no other family has to go through this kind of pain. If there's any positive to come from such an awful event, it's possibly the renewed push for change and unity. Let's keep Quarnitra's memory alive by striving for a community free from violence.
