Wow, it's really tough to read about the loss of yet another young life like Devonte Patterson's. My heart goes out to his family and friends during this incredibly difficult time. It's frustrating to see how gun violence continues to plague neighborhoods like Englewood, leaving so many families devastated. What caught my attention was the time of the incident. Being out at 4:00 a.m. might raise questions, but it also speaks volumes about the ongoing issues with safety in the community. I can't imagine the fear that residents must feel daily. It’s clear that more needs to be done to address the root causes of these tragedies beyond policing—like providing better educational and economic opportunities to create lasting change. I hope we can find a way to prevent such senseless violence in the future.
