I've been following the case of Horactio Clark since it happened, and as a member of this community, I'm especially aware of how gun violence impacts us all. I remember reading about the night of the shooting—how eerily quiet North Street can be until it's suddenly not. It's a place many of us drive by without a second thought, and knowing something so tragic happened there makes it feel different now. My heart goes out to Horactio’s family and friends who have had to endure such a painful loss. It's hard not to think about the long journey they’ve been on from when Horactio was first found to the day Jonathan Cooper finally pled guilty. Even though there’s been some resolution, it doesn’t undo the loss or the fear that it might happen again. What’s been frustrating is seeing how these incidents keep occurring, not just here in Greenville, but all over. It’s clear that something needs to change regarding how we handle gun violence in our communities. I hope Horactio’s case and others like it will push for more meaningful discussions and efforts to prevent future tragedies. If anyone else here wants to talk or share anything about this, I'm all ears. We need to keep these conversations going for everyone's sake.
