I’ve been thinking a lot about the role community plays in tragedies like the one involving Roy Vincent Cupples and Lori McKee. It’s devastating to see how ripples of something so tragic can affect an entire town. I’m from a small community myself, and when something like this happens, the feeling it leaves behind is indescribable. I can’t help but wonder if there were signs that something was wrong or if the couple had reached out for help before things took such a turn. It's hard to accept that we may never have all the answers, but as a community, we must continue to support and look out for one another. It’s encouraging to know the Hinds County Sheriff's Office has been thorough with their investigation, speaking with those who knew Roy and Lori best. I hold hope that if there are lessons or warnings to learn from this tragedy, they come to light to prevent future incidents. My thoughts go out to Roy's friends and family; losing someone like that touches everyone around, and I can only imagine how difficult this time is. It reminds us of the importance of reaching out, checking in, and offering support to those who might be in difficult situations.
