I've been thinking a lot about the driver who drove off when Nicole tried to get into their car. I can't imagine how terrifying that moment must have been for both Nicole and the driver. It's a situation where you think you might be helping someone in distress, but fear and uncertainty can take over so quickly. I hope the driver doesn't blame themselves; it's such a difficult position to be in. We often talk about the "bystander effect," but in these intense situations, it's hard to predict how anyone will react. I just wish Nicole had found a safe escape. My heart goes out to her family and friends who are dealing with this unimaginable loss. Stay strong, everyone.
