I've been following the Coggins case closely, and my heart goes out to Shaharah's family and friends. I can't even begin to imagine the pain they're going through. I recently came across some discussions about the role that bystanders and public spaces play in domestic violence situations like this one. It's been eye-opening to realize just how critical it is for public awareness and training in handling domestic violence emergencies. In this tragic event, Shaharah sought safety in a public place, and yet she couldn't escape. I wonder how different things might have been if the store had some form of silent alarm or if store personnel were better trained to deal with these situations. It’s such a heartbreaking reminder that even when you seek refuge, the threat can still find you. Let's hope this case spurs some change in how public spaces can become safe havens in such dire moments. ?
