Hi everyone, I've been thinking about Marcus Owens and it's just really struck me how his story is a reflection of such a painful reality for so many families in Chicago during that time. I was looking into the Auburn Gresham area, and it's quite devastating to see how entrenched issues like unemployment and limited opportunities have historically fueled the violence there. As much as we can talk about stats and trends, Marcus was a real person whose life was cut short because of circumstances that no one should have to face. It’s important to keep highlighting these systemic issues and pushing for change so more families don't have to go through this same pain.
