Hey everyone, I've been thinking a lot lately about how community spaces seem to be shrinking because of the fear that incidents like what happened to King Collier bring. It’s just so unsettling to imagine how the sidewalks where people are meant to feel a sense of belonging and safety were the setting for such a devastating event. I can only imagine the pain his family and friends are going through. Does anyone know if there have been any community-led initiatives in Greater Grand Crossing to reclaim these spaces or make them safer since this happened? It seems like revitalizing the area could be a crucial step in both healing from these wounds and preventing future tragedies. Would love to hear any updates on efforts or ideas people might have to foster a feeling of safety and connection in neighborhoods hit hardest by violence. Stay safe, everyone.
