I’ve been following the tragedy of Augusta “Gussie” Brooks, and it’s just so hard to comprehend the impact her loss has had on our community. One thing that really stands out to me is how the Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort has rallied around Gussie’s family and friends during such a difficult time. It's touching to see her workplace not only recognize her contribution as a colleague but also support the cause against domestic violence which took her life too soon. After her death, the casino organized several fundraisers and awareness events focused on domestic violence prevention. They've truly honored her memory by being a part of the greater movement to bring light to this pressing issue. It’s wonderful to see an employer care deeply enough to make a real difference and advocate for change, which also helps amplify Gussie’s story to create lasting impact. Tell me if anyone else has heard about other local businesses getting involved in spreading awareness or supporting the Brooks family. It would be nice to hear about more community efforts during this painful time.
