Hey everyone,
I just wanted to share some thoughts about the neighborhood dynamics on Chicago's West Side around the time when Oscar Harris was tragically killed. It seems like the community was caught in a tough position back in 2010, with rampant violence and not nearly enough resources to help turn things around.
From what I gather, there were a lot of efforts made by local organizations and residents trying to combat the violence and create safe spaces for youth. But it must have been so difficult with limited funding and support. It’s truly inspiring yet frustrating to think about how much more could’ve been achieved with a little more backing.
Even though it's been over a decade, I hope we can continue to learn from these past struggles. It’s essential to push for community-driven solutions and adequate resources that tackle the root causes of violence.
Much love to Oscar’s friends and family. It's a painful reminder of the losses that were all too common in such a challenging time for the city.
Reading about Oscar Harris's tragic passing has been really tough. What's been on my mind is the broader context of Chicago's situation during that time. It seems like the whole city was just overwhelmed by a wave of violence, especially in neighborhoods like the West Side, where so many families were already facing such tough times. I can only imagine the pain and frustration of losing a loved one in a community dealing with constant fear and uncertainty. It's important that we keep pressing for solutions that go beyond just policing—like improving economic opportunities and community support systems. My thoughts are with Oscar's family and with everyone affected by this senseless violence. They deserve justice and a safer city to live in.
