I find myself thinking about the first responders who arrived at the scene on Shady Hill Drive. It must have been unbelievably distressing for them to walk into what they thought was a routine medical call and find themselves in the middle of a murder investigation. I can't even imagine how the deputies felt discovering Dianne Kersh like that, and then having to arrest Joseph Kersh, who called them for help in the first place. It’s a tough job, and the emotional impact on those officers is something I think often gets overlooked. Their swift response turned a difficult situation into one where hopefully justice can be served for Dianne and her loved ones. It’s clear they handled it with professionalism and poise, but I’m sure this case will stay with them for a long time. Thoughts and prayers go out to everyone touched by this tragedy, including the officers who had to witness it firsthand.
