I've been thinking a lot about Pheonecia Ratliff's family. I can't even begin to imagine what they're going through after losing her in such a horrific way. It's chilling to consider how quickly things escalated and how helpless her loved ones must have felt. I read how her sister tried so bravely to intervene during the kidnapping, and it just breaks my heart. The system seems to have failed them. Jamarquis Black was out on bond despite the serious charges against him. Didn't anyone see the potential for danger here? With his history of violence, why wasn't there more done to keep him away from Pheonecia? It's terrifying to think that this could happen to anyone in a similar situation. I really think more needs to be done to enforce consequences for domestic violence and keep victims truly safe. My thoughts are with the families affected by this senseless tragedy.
