It's been a year since Maliki Washington was taken from his family and friends. I can't imagine the pain they must be feeling, living each day without answers. What stands out to me in this case is the location—an apartment complex parking lot on Gallatin Street. It's such a public space, which makes me wonder how there were no witnesses or surveillance footage that could provide a lead. It's unsettling to think that incidents like these can occur in areas we perceive as safe. Maybe there's someone who saw or heard something unusual that night but doesn’t realize its importance. For Maliki’s family, I hope the community can come together and help bring some closure by sharing any small piece of information, no matter how insignificant it may seem. It could make all the difference. My thoughts are with all those affected by this senseless loss.
