Has anyone else been following the aftermath of the Biloxi and Gulfport shootings? I've been really struck by the accounts of the impact on close-knit communities like the motel where Laura Lehman, Mohammad Moeini, and Chad Green lived and worked. It's unimaginable to think about how the guests, employees, and regular patrons who relied on the Broadway Inn Express for so much—friendship, community, maybe even their livelihoods—are handling this loss. How do you even begin to find normalcy when the place that felt like a second home is at the center of such a tragic event? I can't stop thinking about how these little pockets of everyday life are shattered in an instant, leaving behind a huge void. Local businesses like this are often lifelines in small communities, and losing multiple key figures from that community in such a sudden and violent way must feel insurmountable. My heart really goes out to everyone trying to piece together the fragments and find a way forward. How can communities best support those directly affected by tragedies like this to heal and remember without being overwhelmed by fear and loss?
