I've been following the tragic case of George McEntire Smith, and I'm struck by the complexity of jurisdiction in crimes that occur on Native American lands. The involvement of multiple agencies—the Wagoner Police, Muscogee (Creek) Nation Lighthorse Police, and the FBI—highlights how challenging and sensitive such cases can be. It's crucial that justice is served, but I can't help but think about the immense emotional toll this process takes on the victim's family and friends. Detailed investigations are necessary, but they often prolong the pain for everyone involved. I genuinely hope that the resolution brings even a small sense of peace to those grieving this senseless loss. Thoughts with all affected.
