Did anyone else find the bravery of the passengers on that Frisco Railroad train remarkable? It’s devastating to think about what Deputy U.S. Marshal John Poe and his partner went through that day. They were simply trying to carry out their duties, and things turned tragic so quickly. But the fact that the passengers and the conductor stepped up to apprehend the suspects is a testament to the strength and courage present even in those terrifying moments. While we mourn the loss of Deputy Poe, we can also recognize that even back in 1901, there were people willing to risk their own safety to bring justice. It's haunting to think how quickly things spiraled out of control, but also heartening to see people come together. To friends and family of Marshal Poe, your loved one’s bravery and service won't be forgotten, and neither will the courage of those who acted that day.
