It's so upsetting to think about how Sheriff Bullard and Deputy Cogburn were ambushed and how that must have completely shocked the community back then. Something I find particularly tragic is how long the truth was shielded because of Robinson's fear. It's understandable, considering the circumstances, but it must have been so heavy to carry that secret for years. It makes me wonder if there were others who knew more than they let on back then and how differently things might have turned out if they had spoken up sooner. It seems like those gaps in information and the terror of retribution played a big role in letting Green and Whitehead evade justice. It's just frustrating that no arrests were ever made, and the families had to live without any real closure. My heart goes out to them knowing they lived in the shadows of unanswered questions and unfulfilled justice. Does anyone else feel like there's more to this story outside of what's been documented? Please share if you do.
