I came across this tragic story while researching historical true crime cases, and it really hit home to read about Deputy Charles Mitchell. Can you imagine the shock and devastation that must have rocked Pryor, Oklahoma, on Christmas Eve of all nights? The community was there to enjoy a festive Christmas program, and instead, they were witness to such a senseless loss. I can't help but think about his family—especially during the holidays now—which must be an incredibly tough season each year. It's also inspiring to hear about the pride his family still holds for his bravery and service. It’s the stories like Deputy Mitchell’s that remind us of the risks law enforcement officers face. It's clear that Pryor hasn't forgotten him, and it’s heartening to see the community keeping his memory alive. If anyone has more info on the aftermath or local remembrances for Deputy Mitchell, I'd love to hear it.
