Hey everyone, I've been following the tragic case of Thomas Jefferson Sherrill, the night watchman who was gunned down while trying to protect St. John's Hospital in Tulsa back in August 1921. One thing that's been on my mind is the sheer bravery and dedication Sherrill showed in his line of duty. It's hard not to feel a wave of admiration for someone who put their own life on the line to safeguard others and their community. Despite the menacing presence of the Barker–Karpis Gang, Sherrill stood firm—something I can't help but respect deeply. Considering the era and what law enforcement was up against, it seems like people like Sherrill were the unsung heroes who stood between the criminals and the innocent. My thoughts really go out to his family and friends who had to deal with such a sudden and devastating loss. It's comforting to know that justice was eventually served with the arrests of Barker and Davis, but it's still just such a painful story of sacrifice. Would love to hear any additional thoughts or info others might have dug up about Sherrill's life and legacy.
