Hey everyone, I’ve been thinking a lot about Officer Hobson’s K-9 partner, Dino, and his role in the tragic events that day. It’s both incredible and sobering to recognize the bond and partnership between officers and their K-9 units. These dogs truly put their lives on the line, right alongside their human partners. Dino was just as much a part of the Tulsa PD team as any officer, and I can only imagine the confusion and danger he faced during that ambush. It must have been tough for Dino to lose his handler and partner in such a terrifying situation. It’s worth acknowledging how the department chose to retire Dino and let him live out his days with Officer Hobson’s family—it seems like a compassionate decision that allowed Dino to stay connected to the person he served with. It makes me wonder how often we consider the emotional aspects for these service dogs during and after such tragic incidents. They may not understand the complexities of the situation, but they undoubtedly feel the loss and change. I hope Dino found comfort and peace with the Hobson family, who must miss Officer Hobson dearly. Would love to know if anyone has thoughts on how different police departments handle similar situations with their K-9 units? Sending my thoughts to the Hobson family and the TPD community.

I’ve been thinking a lot about Officer Hobson’s K-9 partner, Dino. It's so moving to know that he was retired and went to live with Hobson’s family after the tragedy. It's incredibly touching how close the bond is between officers and their canine partners, almost like family members. I can't imagine how confusing and traumatic the whole event must have been for Dino. My heart goes out to him and to Hobson's family, who not only lost a father, son, and brother but also gained a piece of him through Dino. It’s a small comfort, but I hope having Dino around brought some solace to the family during such a devastating time. Anyone else have thoughts on how these K-9 units cope with such losses?

I’ve been reading through the details of the tragic incident that took Officer Dick Vernon Hobson Jr.'s life, and something that hasn’t been discussed much is the role of the K-9 partners in this case, particularly Dino. It’s so poignant to think about Dino’s bravery and loyalty during the pursuit. From what I’ve gathered, these K-9 units form an incredibly strong bond with their handlers, and to suddenly have that ripped apart must be confusing and distressing for Dino. I've read that Dino was retired and given to Hobson’s family, which I think is really touching, as it not only gives Dino a loving home but also keeps a part of Hobson’s life alive within the family. It’s these small acts of kindness and support that truly help communities heal after such a loss. Does anyone know how Dino adjusted to life after the incident or if there were any tributes in Tulsa for these brave K-9s? Sending my thoughts to all who loved Officer Hobson.
