I've been following Peter Yalda's case closely, and I can't help but feel for everyone affected. It's painfully evident how the environment in North Lawndale at the time only made things worse. The lack of cooperation from witnesses is so frustrating, but understandable given the climate of fear. Imagine living in an area where stepping forward could put you and your family at risk. It’s a tragic cycle where fear and silence allow such violence to continue unchecked. I wonder if there were any community programs back then focused on building trust and safety with the residents. There must be a way to break through this barrier, as we’ve seen in other cities. It's sad to think Peter's case, and many others, might remain unsolved because people felt too unsafe to speak up. My thoughts are with his family.
