Hey everyone, I've been digging into the Stanton Shelton case and something keeps bugging me about the location of the accident. The Yukon River, especially that stretch near Alakanuk, can be quite treacherous with its fast currents and hidden obstacles. I read that the skiff was an 18-footer, which is fairly sturdy, but I'm wondering about the weather conditions at the time. Does anyone know if there were any reports of strong winds or unexpected weather shifts that day? Also, I've heard from people familiar with that section of the river that sandbars and underwater debris can be particularly problematic. Could this have contributed to the sinking? It's strange that Shelton was never found, considering the emergency response in the area is usually pretty robust. Just curious if any locals or folks familiar with river navigation in that area have more insights into what might have gone wrong that fateful day.
