Michael Redmond's tragic death has been on my mind lately, especially when I think about the broader issues that plagued Chicago in 2011. Something that stands out to me is how many of these cases went unsolved, partly due to the lack of witness cooperation. I can't imagine the frustration and pain his family and friends must feel, knowing justice hasn't been served. It's such a tough reality when fear, distrust, or code of silence keep folks from coming forward. I've read that this was especially common in areas with heavy gang influence back then. It makes me wonder what more could be done to encourage community collaboration with law enforcement, while also ensuring the safety of those willing to step up. It's a daunting problem, but creating a safer environment where people feel secure reporting what they've seen could be a crucial step in solving cases like Michael's. Would love to hear thoughts on this. Can anyone share insights into programs that have worked in other cities?
