I've been following Janie Tygart's case since it first hit the news, and it just weighs so heavily on my mind. It's truly upsetting to think about her 15-year-old son having to endure such a traumatic experience. No child should have to face the loss of a parent, especially in such a violent manner, let alone both parents in one horrific moment. I keep reflecting on how the system could have provided more support for Janie before it reached this point. The fact that there was a documented history of domestic violence in that home raises so many questions. It's a reminder that we need more robust solutions and resources for victims of domestic violence. It's not fair that their cries for help often seem to go unheard or are addressed too late. It's heartening to see the community rallying around the young boy, though. I hope he's getting the care and support he needs right now. We can't undo the tragedy, but maybe we can take these lessons to heart and prevent future occurrences. Thinking of you, Janie, and sending strength to your loved ones.
