I’ve been following the case of Michael Daniels and Chantel Mack, and it’s such a gut-wrenching situation. I keep thinking about the families and friends of the victims. How do you even begin to process losing a loved one in such a sudden and violent way? It’s unimaginable. I can’t stop considering the community aspect, too. Crawford Park was filled with people, with folks just trying to enjoy a day out at a softball game. It’s hard to grapple with the fact that a public, seemingly safe space could become so dangerous so quickly. I really hope this case sheds some light on how we think about safety in public areas and leads to better preventative measures in the future. Does anyone else have thoughts on how we might better protect community spaces from sudden acts of violence like this?
