I was reading about Martika Ferguson’s case again today, and I still can’t wrap my head around the tragedy of it all. It’s incredibly saddening to think about what her family has gone through. I wanted to mention something that struck me while going over the details: the tireless efforts of the Enid Police Department. The detectives and officers involved really went above and beyond—logging over 280 hours in their pursuit of justice for Martika. I know that must have provided some degree of comfort to her family, knowing that the community stood with them and worked so hard to seek justice. It’s just so hard to shake off the senselessness of this crime, especially when I read about Perosi's terrible confession. I really hope that in time, Martika’s family finds some peace amidst all this grief. She clearly meant the world to those around her, and her memory will shine on through all the lives she touched.
