Hello everyone,
It's been over a decade since Sean Avery lost his life, and I still find myself thinking about the policy implications of cases like his. One angle we can all reflect on is the gun accessibility during that time. The ease with which firearms seemed to flow into communities like Avalon Park was deeply unsettling. It's a sad thought to consider, but Sean’s case was just one of many that highlighted this alarming issue.
I wonder, has there been any substantial progress in gun control policies within Chicago since 2011? Or has the dialogue surrounding these issues evolved in any meaningful way? It seems like every year we’re faced with similar incidents and the weight of the problem never truly fades. My heart goes out to Sean’s family, and all those who’ve been affected by such senseless acts.
It would be great to hear thoughts from those who may have been following changes (if any) in legislation or community initiatives since that summer. What's been working, and where do we still see gaps?
Stay safe, everyone.
