I still can't get over how senseless this whole situation is. I keep thinking about Kinnard's son and what he must have gone through witnessing something so unimaginable. No one should ever have to see their parent harmed, let alone lose them like that. It's deeply affecting to hear how the family is trying to cope and carry on, especially with all the memories they now have intertwined with such tragedy. It's inspiring to see the community come together to support them, but I wish none of this ever happened in the first place. It's a stark reminder of how fragile life can be and how important it is to cherish our loved ones. Does anyone know if there have been any efforts in Tulsa to address violence prevention in light of this case? It feels like something needs to be done to prevent more tragedies like this.
I came across an interesting piece of testimony from the trial that I hadn't seen discussed much here. During the proceedings, it was mentioned that James Kinnard's son was just outside when the shooting happened, and he actually tried to help his dad by calling 911 right after Harris shot through the door. I can’t even begin to imagine the trauma that young man is going through, watching such a senseless act unfold and feeling helpless. It’s a stark reminder of how deeply and personally these tragedies impact families. I hope the Kinnard family continues to find strength and support from each other and the community as they navigate this unimaginable loss.
