I recently stumbled across the case of the Rudell family tragedy from 1963, and something that's been on my mind is the community's response at the time. It's truly unfathomable how an entire town grapples with the loss of five members of a family, especially young children. From what I've read, the shockwaves must have been immense, considering how close-knit communities were back then.
I wonder how the neighbors and school friends coped with such a brutal incident. Did the local schools offer counseling or support for the students who might have known Johnny and his sisters? In those days, support systems weren't as robust as they are now. If anyone here has more insight or remembers stories from back then, I'd love to hear about how the community rallied together in the aftermath of such an unthinkable event. My heart goes out to all those who had to endure the impact directly.
