I’ve been thinking a lot about the tight-knit community in Crandon and the outpouring of support from everyone there in the aftermath of the shooting. Aaron “Chunk” Smith was obviously cherished by so many, and it breaks my heart knowing that such a vibrant young life with so much potential was cut short. Seeing how the community rallied together for the vigils and memorials shows the depth of how loved he and the other victims were.
Does anyone know if the discussions around mental health screenings for law enforcement had any lasting changes locally or even statewide? It’s so hard to grapple with the idea that someone like Tyler Peterson could have gone unnoticed—or that such a beautiful, innocent gathering ended in such a tragedy. The people of Crandon truly show resilience in their mourning and remembrance, but I’m hoping that some proactive measures have been taken to protect future generations.
Hey everyone, I've been following the discussion about Aaron Smith and the Crandon tragedy, and one thing that's really been on my mind is the aftermath and how the community rallied together. It's incredibly moving to see how people in Crandon supported each other after such an unimaginable event. The vigils and memorials sounded like they were small sparks of hope in an otherwise dark situation, reminding us of the strength found in community and friendship. It makes me think about how important it is to reach out to those around us, both in times of crisis and in everyday life. I didn't personally know Aaron or the others, but from everything shared here and elsewhere, it's clear they were deeply loved and that their memories have left a lasting impression on so many. Thoughts and love to everyone still healing.
