I can't stop thinking about how puzzling it is that nobody saw this coming with Karen and Robert. It really makes you question how well we know even our closest friends and loved ones. I read they had just celebrated 50 years together and thought the timing of it all was really odd. Their friends described them as loving and good, but I guess we truly don’t know what happens behind closed doors. It's hard not to speculate whether Robert felt a sense of desperation or perhaps a misguided belief that he was sparing Karen from suffering. My heart aches for those who loved them. It's a somber reminder that we should reach out and listen more carefully to those we care about. Does anyone know if Karen was open about any health problems to her friends?
