Hey everyone, I’ve been following the tragic case of Woody Thomas being swept out to sea back in 2017, and I recently stumbled across something interesting while doing some reading on sneaker waves. Did anyone else know that these waves can actually appear during very calm weather? I figured stormy conditions would be a trigger, but it turns out even bright, sunny days aren’t a guarantee of safety along the coast. I found an article that shared insights from local experts and it really opened my eyes to how sudden these waves can be. One minute everything seems fine, and the next, a powerful wave crashes in. This makes me think about how unpredictable nature can be and the importance of awareness when we're at the beach, especially in areas known for these phenomena. I also read about the important work Charity Woodrum is doing through "Woody’s Stars." Her efforts to promote STEM education in memory of Woody seem like such a positive way to honor him. I'm curious if anyone else here has watched the documentary *Space, Hope, and Charity?* How did it resonate with you?

I came across the documentary *Space, Hope, and Charity* recently, and it struck me how strong Charity Woodrum must be to share her experience after such a life-altering loss. I can't even imagine the complexity of emotions involved in making a film about your own tragedy. It's incredible how she's channeling her pain into something positive with "Woody’s Stars." I'm curious if anyone else has seen the documentary and what their thoughts are on how it's bringing awareness to the dangers of sneaker waves. Also, for those familiar with similar tragedies on the coast, are there other initiatives like Charity's foundation out there?

Has anyone watched "Space, Hope, and Charity"? I just saw the documentary and it really resonated with me. Charity's journey after losing Woody and Jayson is so inspiring. I never realized how powerful sneaker waves could be until I learned about what happened to her family. It's also fascinating how she's focused on STEM education through Woody’s Stars, channeling such personal loss into something that helps others. Her story shows such resilience and strength. Would love to hear other thoughts on the documentary or if anyone has ever participated in Woody’s Stars events!
