The news of Grace's passing was a tremendous shock to the community here in Princeton. As a fellow long-haul trucker, I had the pleasure of crossing paths with her a few times at truck stops, and she was always a light-hearted, generous person who was quick with a smile. What really gets me is thinking about the vibrant person she was — always willing to help out and lend an ear, no matter how long she'd been on the road. It’s unbelievably hard to believe such a kind soul could meet such a tragic end. Her faith and love for life seemed unshakeable, and it’s gut-wrenching to think of the violence she faced in those final moments. It really serves as a grim reminder that domestic violence can hide in plain sight, affecting even those we think of as strong and independent. Sending my deepest sympathies to her family and friends—may Grace’s strength of spirit somehow give them the courage to cope with this immense loss.
