I've been following the tragic case of Juan Bernal, and one detail that keeps standing out to me is the role he played in his community. It's such a testament to what a remarkable person he was. I read about how he was so involved with the Neighborhood House of Milwaukee, not just attending there as a kid but coming full circle to mentor the next generation. It makes me think about all the lives he touched—kids who saw him as a role model, maybe even their first mentor. That ripple effect of his work is immeasurable. It's devastating that someone who was focused on lifting others up had his life cut short in such a senseless way. My heart aches for his family and those young people who looked up to him. I can’t imagine the void that's been left behind. If there's anything we can do to support his legacy or help bring justice to him, it feels like now more than ever is the time to come together as a community. Does anyone know if there have been any recent updates from MPD or if there's a way we can support his loved ones and the causes he cared about?
