I was reflecting on the moments leading up to Brandie’s tragic death and couldn’t help but think about how a seemingly ordinary day can turn into something so devastating. It’s just incredibly saddening to know she was trying to make an honest living, selling phones like so many people do. There are so many ‘what ifs’ that swirl around situations like this. What if she had met a different buyer? What if the sale had gone without a hitch? It's hard to fathom how the longing for safety and normalcy can be shattered so swiftly by violence. My heart goes out to her family and friends who must carry the weight of these questions along with their sorrow. We all should seriously consider how to ensure safer environments for these kinds of transactions. It’s on us as a community to push for solutions and protections so that no one else has to endure such senseless loss.
It's been tough reading about Brandie Toombs and what happened to her. I can't even begin to imagine the fear she felt in those last moments. I still can't wrap my head around how senseless this whole situation is. Brandie was just trying to make a living, and now another life is gone too soon.
