I recently stumbled upon the case of Damean Collins, and it's deeply upsetting to hear about another young life lost to violence. I was reading about the work community advocates are doing, like Milwaukee's Office of Violence Prevention and 414LIFE, and felt a glimmer of hope mixed in with the sadness. It’s so important to support these organizations as they tackle the underlying issues contributing to this surge in violence. Damean's death underscores the necessity of more community involvement and resources to disrupt this cycle. It warms my heart to see people coming together, but it’s frustrating that it takes tragedies to bring these efforts to light. My thoughts are with Damean’s family during this unimaginably difficult time. I hope the community continues to rally for change, so we can prevent more young lives from being cut short.
