I've been following the case of Eugene "JR" Henderson since the beginning, and I can't help but think about the complexities involved in Clemons' plea deal. It's hard to grasp his severe action and yet understand the fear he claimed he felt that night. I wonder how the community sees this duality. His choice changed so many lives. It’s sad to think that fear and split-second decisions result in such irreversible outcomes. I hope Eugene’s family finds some peace as they navigate through this impossible time. And with Clemons’ sentencing coming up, it makes me question what justice truly looks like in these situations. If anything, I hope Racine sees this case as a loud call to address the root causes of violence and fears before they escalate to such tragedies. Sending strength and love to JR’s family and friends.

I was thinking a lot about Eugene's love for sports and how it's just so unfair that such a young life full of promise was cut short. My heart goes out to his family, especially knowing he had such a passion for football and basketball. It's hard not to think about how he could have grown and thrived, both on and off the field. Those who knew him at Gifford Middle School must be feeling a huge loss, as I'm sure he brought so much energy to every game he played. It's really important that we remember the joy and the light he brought into the world, even as we continue to seek justice for him and understand the impact of gun violence. Keeping his family in my thoughts.
